Next Test is on May 11, 2019 doors lock at 7:00am Carrollton location.  Bring picture ID to the exam along with snacks and beverages.  It is recommended that you dress in school uniform, department uniform or business casual.  Shorts, T-shirts, baseball caps, and flip flops are not permitted.  We will be offering retests after the initial round is complete.  Each retest is $20 cash.

To avoid confusion.  This is a NREMT Practical Exam session hosted by EMTS.  EMTS coordinators will  be on site with the NREMT representative to assist throughout the test.  The only two people that can address issues or make commitments related to the exam are Tom Cellio (exam coordinator) and Bryan Ericson (NREMT on site representative).  Any other promises or agreements related to the exam from other individuals may not be granted.

On May 9th at 6pm to 7:15pm there will be an optional review over the testing stations at the Carrollton site.  We will cover the same material that is in the videos provided on this page.  The material covered will simply explain the testing stations as done in the videos.

Testing stations:
  • PARAMEDIC: STATIC, ORAL A, ORAL B, DYNAMIC, TRAUMA ASSESSMENT, AND INTEGRATED OUT-OF HOSPITAL SCENARIO.  The Integrated Out-Of-Hospital Scenario (IOOH) will reflect either a pediatric, geriatric or adult patient. The candidate will be provided with a professional paramedic partner and evaluated on their ability to manage a call, lead a team, effectively communicate, and maintain professionalism throughout the simulated patient encounter.
  • AEMT: IV/MEDS, IO, SPINAL-SUPINE, 1 RANDOM BASIC SKILL (SPINAL SEATED, LONG BONE, JOINT CARE, BLEEDING.SHOCK), APNEIC ADULT (MANAKIN ORAL AIRWAY, BVM, SUPRAGLOTTIS DEVICE), PEDI RESP COMPROMISE (MANAKIN ORAL AIRWAY, BVM, O2 DELIVERY), MEDICAL ASSESSMENT STATION, TRAUMA ASSESSMENT STATION, CARDIAC ARREST AND AED USE.

  • The following videos provide an overview of each skill station.
    • As long as you do what is in the videos you should meet all the mandatory criteria to pass the station.
  • Examples of what fails students:
    • Simple things like avoiding safety and BSI
    • Do not know drug doses.  The NREMT uses the AHA pharmacology numbers.  Some students have said 1mg of atropine vs the 0.5mg current recommendation.
    • The dynamic, oral and static requires the student to interpret the correct ECG rhythm to pass.
    • Not knowing standard care protocols.  When to use and not use epi 1:1,000.  How to treat A-fib with rapid ventricular response but short of SVT rate.
    • Simply over treating the patient.
    • For oral, dynamic, and static the most common failure is not interpreting the ECG rhythms provided.
    • The static station most common failures are not interpreting the ECG rhythms and running out of time.
  • NREMT skill testing sheets, if desired for review, can be found at nremt.org.
